What’s in the Freezer?

Mind the dust… and vegie delivery?

Mind the dust...

Left: Pizza stone we'd been using for over a year. Right: A brand new pizza stone!

Excuse me, please.

I’m having a bit of a bother with my gallery plugin, so I’m temporarily disabling them for now.  Things should be back to normal soon, and it doesn’t affect “normal” uploaded images on the blog (like the one above), but if you’re trying to view entries where I’ve mentioned a gallery, you’ll see a great big white space.

Not yummy.

I hope to get everything sorted out soon, so in the meanwhile, let’s have a bit of a chat!

I’ve been looking for a weekly/fortnightly vegie box delivery service, kind of like community-supported agriculture.  For about 6 months, we’d been getting a box through Aussie Farmers Direct, but they always seem to give us a kilo of potatoes, and at least half a kilo of carrots every week!  Now, we do love just about everything else and will continue getting our dairy and bread through them, but I’m looking for other alternatives.

I want:

  • fresh vegetables, with no or minimal fruit, delivered weekly or fortnightly
  • seasonal produce with reasonable variety
  • preferably local, not too fussed about organic
  • option to put deliveries on hold (if we’re on holidays or totally flooded)
  • delivers to outer eastern suburbs (Dandenong Ranges)

If you have any recommendations, let me know in the comments below!  Affliate links welcome, just lay them on me, and I’ll post up a review if I find something I like :)

PS: If you have suggestions for good WordPress image gallery plugins too, that would be great!

  • I really like the idea of the veggie boxes! Although I haven’t found one around here that works out cheaper than our usual fruit & veg shopping trip. If you get a good one it sounds fun to figure out what to cook with interesting ingredients though. Too many potatoes and carrots sounds like a bit of a cop out on their part!

What are you after in a gallery? I find the standard WordPress gallery pretty good if you’re not after anything too complicated – just thumbnails opening up in Lightbox – let me know if you need any help setting things up :)

    • I typed up a big long entry and my phone ate it ;_;

It’s not so much about the cost, it’s about the convenience and learning to “eat with the seasons” :) I suppose if we ate a more conventional “Australian” diet of meat and potatoes it’d be good, but… er… we don’t XD

I’m trying this plugin called 1 Flash Gallery at the moment which looks okay, I think. I want something that lets you scroll through thumbnails (not display them all on the page), slideshow function, and preferably allows you to toggle displaying captions. The previous one I was using (FIA Gallery) did that, but it’s just stopped working on me and is leaving this massive white space where my pictures used to be.
